NYU Shanghai Commencement:

During his senior year at NYU, Ethan was offered the incredible opportunity to direct the creative team behind his cohort’s graduation.

As the Director of Creative Design Ethan developed a theme, lead a team, and planning promotional events leading up to the ceremony.

Below you’ll find a number of works separated out by the corresponding event.

88 Shanghai

This annual event is used to announce the final 88 days till graduation. For this event, Ethan crafted large photo-op banners, promotional material, and souvenirs for the attendees.

This first image is the cover for the show bill; done in the style of on in-flight entertainment pamphlet. Photos from the even itself are included below as well.

Stamps & Souvenirs

One of the aspects of the “Golden Age of Travel” theme that Ethan and his team leaned into heavily was that of passport and cargo stamps.

To signify special events and commemorate the occasion, Ethan designed a number of stamps specifically for his classmates and cohort. These stamps were also physically printed out and given away as stickers to the students abroad.

This first design was created for T-shirts and hoodies to fundraise for special experiences.

Disney Plus Disney+

2020 & 2021 were quite hectic years for everyone.

Due to the absurdity of the times, certain traditions were reworked to accommodate students both in Shanghai and abroad. One such tradition was the yearly trip to Shanghai Disneyland.

The trip to Disney was renamed “Disney Plus Disney+”. During the event the students in Shanghai would visit the theme park, and the remote student body would enjoy a classic Disney movie marathon.

This section includes the two posters Ethan created to announce and promote the event, as well as the stickers given out as souvenirs.
